Here’s how Chelsey created the concept behind such a sinfully delicious idea;

“At Eau Claire we are known for our Award Winning Parlour Gin, so it only makes sense to have a Gin and Tonic section on the menu, and not just your run of the mill G&T’s either. I wanted something fun and unique to the Tasting Room just as our Gin is unique to Eau Claire Distillery.

As I was enjoying a beer flight with some friends I realized that almost all craft breweries in Calgary (and I am sure every else too) offers beer flights for those folks who want to try it all but not get wobbly. Then it hit me, why can’t we offer a Gin & Tonic flight? The idea was born, discussed and now it’s a thing!

When offering a flight you need to have a decent selection for your patrons to choose from, so I started thinking of the Gin & Tonic section. I must have had hundreds of ideas for a few months, mixing and matching and trying to come up with the best recipes and the perfect number of tastings to offer on the flight.

Being that the entire cocktail menu is quite ‘punny’, the owner and founder of Eau Claire Distillery, David Farran suggested ‘The 7 Deadly Gins’. How perfect is that!

Next came the fun “research” part. I did some investigating on the Seven Sins, I wanted the G&Ts to reflect each one of the sins in some way, shape or form. This year, I’ve made the G&T’s reflect the sins through color. Each G&T is named after one of sins and matches that sins color- it was nothing but fun coming up with unique mixes to bring the sins and the cocktails to life.  This will surely be an ever changing menu so you’ll never get bored of our menu!”
